  • Culver’s of New Berlin and West Allis is partnering with Salentine Family Farm to help farmers recover after the Aug. 9 flood. The event runs today from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at 17585 W. National Ave. in New Berlin—customers making a purchase may get a free scoop of custard and join volunteer activities.  The Waukesha Freeman

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Hartland native Robert Heckel has turned his years of boat sales experience into a new book called Boat Shows: The Lifeline of the Marine World that will launch Nov. 1—he plans a 2025 tour at boat shows in major markets like Milwaukee and Chicago. Heckel uses his BOAT framework to help salespeople build trust with customers and show that selling is about helping people.  The Waukesha Freeman

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Teacher Ben Holzem started the Butler Motorsports Club at Butler Middle School to combine his passion for racing with STEM learning. On Wednesday, students visited the UEMSI/HTV factory to explore 3D printing and circuit work and then toured Kettle Moraine Preservation & Restoration where owner Jacques Dresang guided them as they saw teamwork and engineering in action—linking classroom lessons to real-world skills.  The Waukesha Freeman
  • Hispanic students made up 10.3% of Waukesha County's student enrollment in the 2024-25 school year with 6,022 students recorded—data provided by the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction.  Waukesha Times

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The School District is entering the recommendation phase of its Optimizing Our Future plan to reduce building capacity amid a steady decline in student enrollment. On Thursday, a staff session will start at 4 p.m. and a 90-minute parent/community session will begin at 6 p.m.—both at Horning Middle School.  The Waukesha Freeman

  • Fans in Brookfield can meet NFL Hall of Famer LeRoy Butler today from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Kohl’s Brookfield—2315 N. 124th St.—as Kohl’s launches the new Pro Football Hall of Fame x Haggar Collection; the first 100 guests receive a signed photograph and can snap a photo with the Hall of Fame Gold Jacket.  The Waukesha Freeman
