- ➤ In Oconomowoc, drone pilot Tony Drake launched Sky Guardian Rescue to help search for lost pets through local social media groups. His fleet of drones features thermal imaging and zoom capabilities to quickly locate animals and sometimes offers the service free when coordinated by community groups. CBS58
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Waukesha Schools will close three elementary schools and host open houses and enrollment sessions at high, middle, and dual language schools from Jan. 6 to Feb. 27. The district is also adjusting boundaries and transportation (to accommodate student priorities) to save an estimated $3.2 to $3.7 million amid declining enrollment. Milwaukee Journal Sentinel

- ➤ Paul Vrakas, the longest-serving mayor of Waukesha, died Wednesday at 98 after serving from 1970 to 1978 and again from 1986 to 1994. A celebration of his life is scheduled for Jan. 18 at the Rotunda in downtown Waukesha. The Waukesha Freeman
